BUSINESS MANAGEMENT TRAINING seminar ORGANIZED BY WOLICAMI INITIATIVE, FACILITATED BY NAMASUBA COLLEGE OF COMMERCE and CONSULTANCY SERVICES (NCCCS) AND FINANCED BY BUDS-SSE.

WOLICAMI Initiative...

BACKGROUND:

The training was in Business Management. It took place in Ibanda sub-district Mbarara District at Jubilee Hall Ibanda town Council. It was attended by 50 members of the organization in the sub county divided into different groups of 50 members each and named in alphabetical order. Group A was the first to benefit from the training, which took five days. The training started from Wednesday10th October and ended on Sunday 14th October 2001.

OBJECTIVES:

The objectives of the training were to provide the WOLICAMI members with enough business technical skills that could help them smoothly run their businesses.

MEMBER’S ACTIVITIES:

-         Crop farming and Animal Husbandry

-         Boda Boda activities (Transport)

-         Saloon

-         Market vending

-         Hotel management

-         Brick making and building

-         Bee keeping

-         Poultry

-         Carpentry and joinery

-         Welding and fabrication

TOPICS COVERED:

-         Introduction to business and what is business management

-         Record keeping basically financial records.

-         Business expansion, banking and saving culture.

-         Marketing and salesmanship

MATERIAL AIDS (LEARNING AIDS):

-         Books, Flip charts, marker, manila papers, ball pens, reams of paper and masking tape.

 METHODOLOGY USED:

-         Listening Skills, reading, answering oral questions and longsome self-evaluation everyday, evaluation tests at the end of training, video viewing and orientational questions.

ASSESSMENTS OF ACTIVITY:

The training was well organized and achieved its intended objectives. Members acquired all relevant skills to necessary to manage their businesses. This conclusion is drawn from members’ evaluation sheets.
